Traveling with a Toddler – Trip from California to Missouri

Hello Tucker Tribe!

Welcome back to the blog!  This post goes into a little bit more detail in relation to the vlog I posted about packing for our toddler for our trip to Missouri!  This post contains my recommendations on what to bring to keep your toddler busy on a flight!  If you are interested in watching our Packing Vlog you can watch it here!

In the DIAPER BAG!

Typically my diaper bag looks like this!  Everything is kind of thrown together, and not really super organized!

But this is how I’d like to think my diaper bag is.  Organized and pretty, with everything having a place and purpose!

Here are the links for what I normally keep in my diaper bag!

Diapers

Huggies Little Movers are the best. Through my trials and tribulations with honest diapers, pampers, etc., Huggies Little Movers are the best bang for your buck! (especially if you buys them at Costco). They prevent blow outs, hold over night, and just are the all around best. I WANT to be the mom that uses diapers that are better for your baby and more natural, but let me tell you what,  after blow out upon blow out with natural and “bleach free” diapers, and having the bleach onesies, and just more work in general because of blow outs her up back, there comes a time when a mom is like FORGET IT.  I’ll let you try to change my mind on that.

Wipes

My favorite wipes (not pictures) are the Huggies Simply Clean wipes. Again, you can get these at Costco occasionally, which will get you the best deal, but the thickness, and overall just better design of these wipes makes them the winner in my opinion.  I don’t recommend the wipes that are pictured!  The have a funky smell, and mixed with baby poop makes me want to gag! Unfortunately, when the pandemic hit, these were the only wipes that were available, so these are the ones I had to buy.  0/10 for these Pampers Expressions Wipes, but 10/10 for the Huggies Simply Clean!

Extra Clothes

I always have an extra outfit on hand just in case there is a poop/ puking episode, especially when I am traveling on a plane.  You can never be too prepared!  I always put a pair of leggings and a light shirt in the bag, because leggings and a shirt aren’t too heavy to carry around, and the outfit is comfortable for Kennedy if she needs to be changed.

Here’s a link to a similar owl shirt and leggings.

Wet Bag

I swear by this wet bag.  It’s by Itzy Ritzy and there are a ton of different prints that you can find on amazon.  It’s AMAZING for yucky clothes after a blow out, a wet bathing suit, food stained clothes, or anything that you don’t want the rest of your clean stuff in our diaper bag touching!  I can’t tell you how many times this bag has saved me.  You can hook it on the outside of your diaper bag, so your child’s soiled clothes aren’t near anything else.  It’s amazing!  I always bring it with me. everywhere I go.

Snacks

These are essential.  Kennedy’s favorite are these Happy Tot Veggie and Fruit Packs. I’ve linked the “red” ones here because that’s her favorite, and she asks for it every time.

She can go through 10 of them in a day if I’d let her (don’t worry I never would).  They are healthy, and made with just fruits, veggies and sometimes oats or cinnamon, so it’s a great snack!  She also loves cookies (obviously) so I keep a package of these circus cookies in the bag as a bribery tool just in case.  The mini muffins are always a big hit, same with the Rise Crispy treats, and she LOVES BLUEBERRIES.

Pacifiers

I know what you’re thinking.  She STILL uses a binky!?  Yes, unfortunately, she does.  Typically she only has a binky when she sleeps at night, but for flying on airplanes, where we are in such close quarters with other people who DON’T want to her a toddler scream, I let her have it to keep her quiet.  Other than that, It’s night time and nap time only.  She likes the Philips Avent Pacifiers from Target.  She’s been using them since she was a newborn, and they have never let us down!

Medicine Bag

Inside my diaper bag I keep this Petunia Pickle Bottom Packing Cube with all of the medicine Kennedy, Chase or I might need while we are out and about.

The things I typically keep in here are:

A Thermometer

Medicine Syringe

Bandaids

Neosporin

Nail Clippers

Aspirator

Baby Tylenol

Baby Motrin

Adult Tylenol

Chewable Tums

Gas X

Allergy Medicine and

Vitamins

Well that’s pretty much it, guys! Let me know what you think! What do you keep in your diaper bag for Travel?
